  • I. TEMPTATION OF JESUS (Matthew 4:1-10)
    • A. Satan Came at Weakest Moment
      • 1. In weakness we come great strength (2 Corinthians 12:10)
      • 2. In strength can come weakness (David) (1 Corinthians 10:12; 1 Samuel 17:36-37)
      • 3. No force in world can beat me if I am in love of Christ (Romans 8:37)
      • 4. In my weakest moment, I depend on Christ.
      • 5. How do I know God is with me? (2 John 9-10)
      • 6. In my weakest moment, I have a decision to make.
    • B. Temptation Comes Through a Hunger of Flesh
      • 1. Are we more tempted today than in the past? No!
      • 2. The problem: we don't think for ourselves.
      • 3. I hate arguments because they stop good discussion.
      • 4. Jesus thought about His standard of conduct and what was pleasing to His Father.
        • a. Sex
        • b. Drugs
        • c. Popularity
        • d. Family
        • e. Religion
      • 5. Jesus overcame same way we are to overcome; He thought about Scripture.
    • C. Power
      • 1. He would have betrayed man and God.
      • 2. Jesus came to prove He is the Son of God.
      • 3. How strong is desire for power in you and me?
      • 4. How many lives are affected by control freaks?
      • 5. Overcame by Scripture; we the same way
    • D. A Quick Fix
      • 1. Jesus came to establish a kingdom.
      • 2. Devil is in charge of world. Why? People do not think!
      • 3. Lotto
      • 4. Solution: Scripture; same for us.
  • II. THE TEMPTER LEAVES
    • A. We have overcome Satan by Scripture.
      • 1. We said No!
